Wey VV6 to feature latest safety technology
China's largest SUV and pickup truck maker Great Wall Motors will launch its 2021 version of the VV6 SUV this month under its high-end Wey brand. Among other features, the model will include the carmaker's latest safety technology such as the vital signs monitoring function, unveiled on June 8. Sporting a high-precision millimeter wave radar, the vehicle can monitor whether people or animals are in the car after its engine stops and doors lock down. If there are, the vehicle will send out warnings and messages to the driver's registered mobile phone to prevent possible risks. Temperatures inside the car can reach up to 65 degrees Celsius within 15 minutes of the engine stopping when the outside temperature measures 35 degrees Celsius. Great Wall Motors said the VV6's radar can work from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius. Wey is one of a few Chinese carmakers attempting to compete with international brands in that regard. Its sales in May were 5,015, bringing the total to 20,986 in the first five months of the year.
