Artworks illustrate efforts against poverty
More than 550 artistic works on poverty alleviation are being exhibited at the National Art Museum of China. The exhibits, mostly collected by the museum, include artworks related to the country's intangible cultural heritage, and paintings, sculptures and photos revolving around the themes of poverty alleviation, the battle against COVID-19 and work resumption. The exhibition, which opened earlier this month, will run until Oct 11.

Crackdown on violators ahead of import expo
The Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, in cooperation with other government departments, is launching a 100-day crackdown on IP infringements. Running from Aug 1 to Nov 10, they aim to create a lawful environment for the third China International Import Expo, scheduled for November in the city. During the event, enforcement officials will conduct regular inspections and random checkups at local businesses, popular markets and scenic sites. CIIE organizers have created a dedicated section on its website to announce information on IP protection and legal services. In addition, Shanghai's service hotline (12345) also helps respond to complaints against IP violations.

IP protection center opens in Hefei
The China (Hefei) Intellectual Property Protection Center opened in early August, bringing the total number of national centers to 34.The new facility in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, is the third to open in the country during the COVID-19 pandemic after Guangzhou in Guangdong province and Karamay in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. The Hefei center is focused on the new-generation information technology and advanced machinery manufacturing sectors. It will contribute to create an extensive IP protection network in the Yangtze River Delta, promote the region's innovation-driven economic growth and improve its business environment.

Invention exhibition set for November
A national invention exhibition is slated to be held in Foshan between Nov 19-21. A string of new sections focusing on themes such as intellectual property related to military defense, advanced manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals, and smart home will be added to this year's event. In addition, a series of competitions and business matching events are scheduled. Since 2017, the national event has been held in Foshan, injecting vigor into the local economy and attracting groups of high-tech projects to the city, said Cai Jiahua, executive vice-mayor of Foshan, at a news conference in Beijing on Tuesday.

Culture week to focus on embroidery works
South China's island province of Hainan will hold an international culture week in November. It will focus on brocade and embroidery works from various countries, as well as from the local Li ethnic group. The event, to be held between Nov 19-22, will feature a forum; three shows; an art exhibition; and a contest for brocade in the style of the Li ethnic group, an intangible cultural heritage item, according to a news conference held on Tuesday in Haikou, capital of Hainan. Competitors from various countries are to present their own brocade using the Li ethnic style. The art exhibition is to show brocade and embroidery works from Thailand, India, Malaysia and other countries and regions involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
