Highlights
1. A series of innovative activities were organized for the event. For the first time, it was conducted online and offline, with onsite interviews and video conferencing with overseas branches.
2. The event's main venue is in Jiangmen, Guangdong province. It was joined by its local branches in the cities of Taishan, Kaiping, Heshan, Enping as well as other countries including Malaysia, Australia, the United States, Costa Rica, Venezuela and Brazil. The city sent invitations to some 350 overseas Chinese groups in 75 countries and regions. The live broadcast was expected to attract 10,000 people.
3. It helps to boost the development of foreign trade. The event serves as a trading platform to promote Jiangmen manufacturing to online and offline guests around the globe.
4. The event helps to carry out preventive work of the COVID-19 pandemic, resolve disputes in trade activities and help overseas students return to China.
Affected by the pandemic, overseas Chinese have put forward different demands in terms of infection prevention, economic and trade activities.
5. It promotes the culture of overseas Chinese. In the talking session, young people from overseas and Jiangmen could recite Young China Talking together online.
The descendants of Liang Qichao, a great thinker of modern China, were invited to present the book Liang Qichao's Home Letter to the children.
