The three-voice folk songs
The three-voice folk songs of the Zhuang ethnic group originated in Jiafang township, Guling town, Guzhai township, and Lidang township in Mashan, Nanning. Since ancient times, the local people have called the folk song "Huanha".
The Zhuang people often sing the songs in Manhuan, Bu Liehuan, Jiafanghuan, Jiehuan folk songs and other tunes. Their structures are three voices: the first and second voices have independent tones and the third voice foils the harmony. The three voices can highlight and enrich the main melody.
In 1981, Zhuang musician Fan discovered the three-voice folk songs of the Zhuang ethnic group in Mashan. The three-voice folk songs of the Zhuang people are mainly sung by the life and production, social entertainment, love, weddings and funerals, and entertaining gods of the Zhuang society. They are used especially in ceremonies such as weddings and funerals. Over the years, the three-voice folk songs of the Zhuang people have been sung in large-scale performances such as the Nanning International Folk Song Art Festival. They have also been performed in more than 10 countries including Japan, South Korea, Egypt and Finland, and are well received.
Duoye
Duoye is a homonym of the Dong language. "Duo" means sing or dance, and "Ye" means a kind of song. The combined word means "to sing and jump". It is the most representative form of the Dong people. Instrumental accompaniment and the combined form of singing and dancing are especially popular in Sanjiang county, Liuzhou.
Duoye is divided into two types: Yetang and Yediao. Yetang is a dance praising the ancestors while offering sacrifices to them and praying for blessings.
It is mainly held on ceremonial occasions and sung by people of high morals.
The crowd dances in a circle, and the atmosphere is solemn. Yediao is an entertaining dance, mainly held in rallies, welcoming guests, celebrations and grand festivals, and the atmosphere is relaxed and lively.
The dance style is performed in teams of men and women. Men and women can also join hands in a circle, facing the circle inside with a neat and rhythmic step, singing while circling, shaking hands as a pat, and stepping horizontally along the circle or left or right under the feet. The basic movements are progressive pendulum, regressive pendulum, and cross-step. The entire dance scene is full of enthusiasm, unity and peace. Duoye mainly inherits from the group in practice.
