What they say

China Daily Global | Updated: 2022-03-07 00:00

The USTC plays an essential role in scientific research in China. It has seven national ley laboratories for science and technology that make it a comprehensive research platform for researchers to improve.

The university has attracted a lot of qualified scientists and professors from around the world and I was lucky enough to be a member of such a prestigious institute. It helped me build a personality, which turned out to be very useful for the professional environment. I am impressed with the labs and equipment, which facilitated my work and enabled me to have a great outcome that led to my projects being published in the most well-known journals in our research field. The knowledge can be beneficial to our countries and humanity. Without the assistance and support of the USTC, I would not have been able to achieve what I have done.

Ammar Hawbani, associate professor, USTC School of Computer Science and Technology

I appreciate the various career exploration opportunities the USTC offered me as a master's candidate and later as a PhD candidate in the past, and as a postdoctoral researcher now. I was able to attend and present at professional conferences. As a foreign student, I was also able to volunteer in curricular and extracurricular events relevant to my interest domains. My colleagues and supervisors used a strengths-based approach to help me develop my goals and aspirations.

The USTC always welcomes foreigners with numerous opportunities. Many foreign students have used their talents to achieve respectable, specialized designations in their professional lives. This practice of enrolling foreign students at the university has created a very sundry learning environment. It has helped in enriching the experience of other students on the campus. Cultural awareness has become a must for all students to open their minds to different perspectives of various nationalities. Students at the campus have shared and learned more than I can say. Most importantly, the fact that foreign students bring diverse resources from their home countries can lead to resourcefulness and innovation.

Mohamed Noureldin, postdoctoral researcher, USTC School of Public Affairs
