Report: West manipulates media to cast its influence
A recent report has shed some light on Western media influence operations mainly aimed at Central Asia and the Middle East.
The Aug 24 report-Unheard Voice: Evaluating five years of pro-Western covert influence operations-by the Stanford (University) Internet Observatory Cyber Policy Center and Graphika, a network analysis company based in New York, analyzed a large network of accounts removed from US social media giants Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
The information operations likely originated in the United States and targeted a range of countries, according to the report.
