HSR project in North China makes progress
North China is speeding up building a 290-kilometer railway-the Jining-Datong-Yuanping High-speed Railway-to set up an express link between Inner Mongolia and Shanxi province. Builders from China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co Ltd have completed the continuous beam for the super-large Bridge Traversing National Expressway 512 on the line. The HSR, with an investment of 33.93 billion yuan ($5.06 billion), is expected to facilitate trains in running at speeds of up to 250 km per hour. The project is in the northern part of the Hohhot-Nanning HSR, which figures in China's "eight verticals and eight horizontals" HSR network.
