Organized by Xiangxiang city, Hunan province, a matchmaking event on promoting power service cooperation between China and Africa caught visitors' attention at the ongoing third China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo.

Eight projects were signed during the event with an intended amount of more than 100 million yuan ($13.82 million).

With hard work over the past 40 years, power companies in Xiangxiang have developed from a construction team undertaking rural power transformation projects in the 1980s to a complete industry chain integrating power services, power product manufacturing, power testing and inspection. They participate in national power engineering construction and have made significant contributions to China's power and energy construction.

Statistics show that Xiangxiang's power companies have installed more than 1,000 substations and transmission lines, including about 100 large-scale projects of 500 kilovolts and above, and installed more than 1 million kilometers of power lines.

The entire industry's annual revenue has reached 8 billion yuan, with a tax contribution of nearly 300 million yuan. Honored as one of the first batch of National Labor Service Brands in 2022, Xiangxiang's power companies have launched construction projects all over the world.

As a vanguard in developing international markets, Hunan Tengda Electric Power Construction has made a series of world-class construction achievements that opened a new era for Xiangxiang's power companies to embrace the world with its quality services.

In 2011, Tengda entered the Africa market in 11 countries such as Guinea, Tanzania, Ghana and Angola.

Currently, it has extended its business to more than 30 countries and regions and it has established branches in Guinea, Tanzania, Malaysia, the Philippines and other countries. Its 225-kV transmission project, Kaleta Hydropower Station in Guinea, was rated as a National Quality Project in Guinea in 2016.

Xiangxiang focuses on power equipment manufacturing and processing, develops electrical and electronic testing businesses, and fills the gaps in the electronic and electrical processing industry, and it is expanding into high-end manufacturing such as power lines, cables and transformers.

The city has created a complete industry chain integrating power construction, power equipment manufacturing and testing. With the gathering of capital, projects, talents and other high-end resources in Xiangxiang, more and more power and electrical enterprises will gather to advance the innovation chain for the power industry.
