Chinese students in US seen as vital link

China remained the leading place of origin among international students at universities and colleges in the United States for the 2022-23 academic year, according to a report.

The Open Doors 2023 Report on International Educational Exchange, released by the Institute of International Education, said that China sent 289,526 students to the US for the academic year, followed by India with 268,923 students.

Chinese students comprised 27 percent of the total number of international students in the US, while Indian students made up 25 percent, the report said.
