Structure spanning Guizhou's Huajiang River set to become highest in the world

Above the grand canyon of Huajiang River, which features towering cliffs and fast-flowing currents in Southwest China's Guizhou province, a steel-truss girder suspension bridge is under construction.

The main span of the bridge is 1,420 meters long. With a height of 625 meters from the bridge deck to the water's surface, the bridge is expected to become the highest in the world after its completion. It will cut travel time across the canyon from about two hours to two minutes.

The main structure of the bridge is expected to be completed by the end of 2024 and is set to be put into use in early 2025.
