Long-range Macan debuted

German luxury automaker Porsche premiered the long-range electric Macan at the Chengdu auto show on Friday. At prices starting from 598,000 yuan ($84,235), the model features a 100 kilowatt-hours battery with a 702 kilometer CLTC range. Based on the latest 800-volt PPE platform, the electric SUV allows for a 260 km range with just 10 minutes of fast charging. The new Macan boasts a maximum output of 265 kW and a peak torque of 563 Newton meters. The minimum drag coefficient of the model is 0.25, the best achieved by any Porsche SUV. The new electric Macan features the latest generation of display and control systems, which comes with a floating 12.6-inch curved instrument cluster and a 10.9-in central display screen. The automaker also introduced the Porsche Charging Planner at the auto show, which optimizes routes and charging stops based on battery level and traffic, ensuring a smooth and efficient travel experience.
Hybrid M5 the fastest BMW

BMW premiered its seventh-generation M5 at the Chengdu auto show. With 40 years of heritage, the high-performance sedan combines a high-revving 4.4-liter V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor, delivering 535 kilowatt and 1,000 Newton meters of torque. It accelerates from 0-100 kilometers per hour in 3.5 seconds, making it BMW's fastest production car in China. The new M5 is 18 millimeters lower and 67 mm wider than its predecessor, with the dimensions of 5,096 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, 1,513 mm in height, and a 3,006 mm wheelbase. Its driver-focused design features aerodynamic enhancements, lightweight construction and near 50:50 weight distribution. According to BMW, the all-new M5 was developed over four years, including more than two and a half years of testing across diverse conditions and tracks, totaling more than 1 million km.
MINI crossover launched

BMW Group's MINI brand launched its first crossover model, the all-new electric MINI Aceman, in Chongqing on Aug 27 as MINI celebrated its 65th anniversary. The model is available in four versions, priced between 199,900 yuan ($28,158) and 264,900 yuan. The new member of MINI family features a five-door, five-seat design, with dimensions of 4,076 millimeters in length, 1,754 mm in width, 1,515 mm in height and a wheelbase of 2,606 mm. The new model is equipped with a signature circular OLED central control display. It runs the ninth-generation MINI operating system, which allows users to summon an intelligent assistant via voice command. The model can generate a maximum power of 160 kilowatt and a top torque of 330 Newton meters, and offers a maximum CLTC range of 450 kilometers. The model also supports fast charging, enabling it to charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in 30 minutes.
Voyah Dream presales begin

Dongfeng Motor's premium marque Voyah started presales of its new Dream MPV in Chengdu on Aug 28. The model starts at 349,900 yuan ($49,287) equipped with the self-developed Kunpeng system. For those equipped with Huawei's Qiankun intelligent driving ADS 3.0 and HarmonyOS cockpit, prices start at 469,900 yuan. The MPV is 5,315 millimeters in length, 1,980 mm in width and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,200 mm. The plug-in hybrid version features a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, dual electric motors and a 41.7 kilowatt-hours battery pack, offering a 235-kilometer CLTC pure electric range and 1,411-km total range. The model can generate a maximum power of 420 kW, top torque 840 Newton meters and top speed of 203 km per hour. It has the shortest braking distance in its segment at 35.79 meters. The Dream MPV first launched in May 2022 and has delivered more than 60,000 units. The automaker announced it received more than 10,000 orders in three hours since presales of the new model.
