Exhibition in Hubei province puts spotlight on evolution of traditional ink painting
The "Academy Brush-Ink" National Nomination Exhibition on Traditional Chinese Paintings of Art Schools, which opened at the Hubei Institute of Fine Arts on Nov 28, provides a platform to showcase the achievements of Chinese painting education in academies.
The event, which will end on Saturday, showcases the works of 134 artists from 44 organizations such as higher art academies and painting institutes nationwide.
It presents the development of traditional Chinese painting and the reflections of artists from different generations, ranging from those born in the 1940s to the 2000s.
The exhibited works cover a wide range of subjects including figures, landscapes, flowers and birds, showcasing the vigorous development of traditional Chinese painting in the present era and confidence in the future of traditional Chinese painting.
The exhibited works demonstrate the creative influences of contemporary artists who practice traditional Chinese painting. They adhere to tradition while innovating.
The exhibition creates opportunities for national higher art academies to have academic exchanges and share research, and hopes to contribute to the vitality and development of traditional Chinese painting.
