Three hundred key tasks for high-quality development

Beijing has recently announced its "three-100" key projects initiative for 2025 to leverage the demonstration role of the projects in improving investment quality and boosting the city's high-quality development.
According to the initiative, Beijing will focus on advancing 100 major scientific and technological innovation and industrial modernization projects, 100 major infrastructure projects and 100 major projects that are to improve the well-being of city residents.
The total investment in these key projects is approximately 1.4 trillion yuan ($193.14 billion), of which the combined amount that is planned to be in place this year is estimated to account for more than 30 percent of the city's annual investment.
The initiative comprises 180 expansion projects and 120 new projects, encouraging extensive participation of nongovernmental capital, which is projected to account for no less than 70 percent of the total investment, local officials said.
In the sci-tech innovation and industrial modernization group, there are 22 major scientific research infrastructure projects, such as a low-carbon energy power system research and development platform, the first phase of the pilot test base of Xi'an Jiaotong University's State Key Laboratory for Mechanical Behavior of Materials, and the High-Energy Synchrotron Radiation Facility.
Strategic emerging industries also constitute a prominent part of the innovation and modernization, involving 23 projects.
These include the Shunyi section of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei intelligent connected new energy vehicle sci-tech ecosystem hub. The three regions jointly decided on a 533-hectare area for the development of the industrial hub in 2024, which encompasses Shunyi district of Beijing, Wuqing district of Tianjin, and Langfang, Hebei province.
The Shunyi section has a planned area of some 167 hectares. Its location will enable access within an hour to major automotive manufacturing enterprises in Beijing's Shunyi, Miyun and Changping districts as well as Beijing E-Town.
Among the 23 strategic emerging industry projects are the second phase of Beijing E-Town's innovation base for core NEV components, an international medical hub at Zhongguancun Science City, a biotech flagship park in Daxing district, and a dynamic random access memory storage technology demonstration line project and BOE's sixth-generation new semiconductor display production line project.
There are also 15 future industry projects among the first 100, including a super intelligent computing artificial intelligence innovation demonstration park, the first phase of a cloud computing technology industrial park in Fangshan district, an aerospace rocket intelligent sensing industry base at Beijing E-Town, and the Zhongguancun Industrial Internet Industry Park.
Among the 100 science and technology innovation and modernization industry projects, the modern service industry has the largest number of projects, reaching 34. Additionally, there are six cultural and tourism integration development projects.
The second group of 100 projects focuses on major infrastructure projects, with a combined 87 billion yuan investment planned to be paid this year. These comprise four railway projects, 13 rail transit projects, five transport hub projects, 13 highway projects, 22 urban road and traffic infrastructure support projects, 14 urban operation guarantee projects, six smart logistics projects, and 23 water conservancy projects.
The third group of projects concerns residents' well-being and has the highest investment value of 139.9 billion yuan planned for this year.
Among them, five are housing and community comprehensive service projects, 15 focus on urban renewal, 31 on education, 21 on medical care and elder care, 10 on culture and sports, 11 on ecological environment construction, and seven consumption projects.
