Mercedes-Benz made the world premiere of the Vision V concept on April 22, a day before the Auto Shanghai, presenting advanced solutions for smart mobility and sustainable energy. The concept car measures 5,486 millimeters in length with a 3,530 mm wheelbase, featuring illuminated chrome accents, 24-inch light-equipped wheels, and a 3D rear-lighting display. The cabin integrates a 65-inch 4K cinema screen, 360-degree projection system, and a 42-speaker Dolby Atmos setup. A nanotech adjustable glass partition offers instant privacy control between the driver and rear passengers. A highlight is the full solar roof equipped with 168 high-efficiency Interdigitated Back Content cells, achieving a conversion rate of 24.3 percent. Under optimal sunlight, it generates up to 3.44 kilowatt-hours daily, powering around 22 kilometers of range. The system allows direct power supply or storage in the high-voltage battery, supporting zero-emission short-distance travel.
Lexus unveiled the all-new ES at the Auto Shanghai, offering hybrid (ES 300h) and fully electric (ES 350e, ES 500e) variants. Built on the upgraded GA-K platform, the model gains 165 millimeters in length and 80 mm in wheelbase compared to its predecessor, enhancing interior space and ride comfort. The all-new ES introduces a Dynamic Rear Steering system with up to 4 degrees of rear-wheel adjustment, improving agility and stability. Paired with Adaptive Variable Suspension featuring a linear solenoid valve, it delivers a precise damping response. The flagship ES 500e is equipped with a large-capacity battery and the DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system, dynamically managing torque distribution based on real-time sensor data. Additional features include the latest Lexus safety system, innovative hidden response buttons, and a multisensory ambient system integrating lighting, sound and fragrance.
FAW-Audi displayed the allnew A5L at the Auto Shanghai, the first luxury fuel-powered sedan in China to adopt Huawei's intelligent driving system. Built on the Premium Platform Combustion and equipped with Audi's End-to-End Electronic Architecture 1.2, which is shared with the Premium Platform Electric, this architecture integrates five high-performance computing units that manage driving dynamics, driving assistance, infotainment, comfort systems, and connectivity, enabling seamless software upgrades and personalized digital services. The A5L utilizes lidar, radar, cameras, and ultrasonic sensors to enable advanced driver assistance across urban and highway scenarios. The A5L is powered by the latest EA888 Evo5 engine with Variable Turbine Geometry turbo-charging, delivering 200 kilowatts of peak output. It also features a 48-volt Mild-Hybrid Electric Vehicle Plus system, supporting enhanced efficiency and partial electric driving capabilities.
Cadillac unveiled the Lyriq-V, its first high-performance all-electric V-series model and the fastest Cadillac ever, at the Auto Shanghai, marking its domestic debut. The model measures 5,013 millimeters in length, 1,977 mm in width, and 1,627 mm in height, with a 3,094 mm wheelbase. The exterior features a V Performance aerodynamic package, including a low-drag front splitter, streamlined side wing deflectors, and a sharp rear diffuser. Powered by a high-performance silicon carbide electric drive system, it delivers a peak output of 465 kilowatts and 863 Newton meters of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.3 seconds. The vehicle also offers four customized simulated sound modes — engine rev, acceleration, braking, and a Le Mans Daytona-exclusive simulation — enhanced by front and rear external speakers to create an authentic track-driving experience.
Bentley launched the Continental GT Azure, its latest luxury coupe featuring the brand's new High-Performance Hybrid power train at the Auto Shanghai — marking a significant step in Bentley's electrification journey. The power train advanced a 4.0-liter V8 engine and powerful electric motor to develop a maximum power output of 690 metric horsepower and 930 Newton meters of torque, surpassing the performance of the previous generation's W12 engine. The model is positioned as a "daily supercar", balancing usability with high-performance driving. It also offers up to 80 km of pure electric range, catering to urban commuting and short-distance travel. While maintaining Bentley's signature performance heritage, the Continental GT Azure features luxury appointments. The seats and door linings feature new 3D Harmony diamond quilting with the Azure name embroidered on the headrests.
Volkswagen Anhui presented its first all-electric SUV concept, the ID. EVO, at the Auto Shanghai. The ID. EVO features 800-volt fast-charging technology and offers a maximum range of 700 kilometers. Charging is supported by more than 20,000 fast-charging stations across 420 cities through Volkswagen Group and its partners in China. The vehicle is equipped with advanced intelligent technologies, including an AI-powered Level 2 driving assistance system for highway, urban, and parking scenarios. It also features a new operating system and the UNYX human-machine interface, a large infotainment display, and an AI assistant supporting personalized customization and voice interaction. Magnetic expansion ports and large language model technology also enhance in-car entertainment and intelligent assistance, providing an immersive user experience. The production model, scheduled for 2026, will retain more than 80 percent of the concept's design.
