Qinling giant pandas
The Qinling giant panda is a subspecies of giant panda that was identified in 2005 in the Qinling Mountains, a natural boundary between the country's north and south. It has a smaller and rounder skull, shorter snout and less fur than the more familiar Sichuan subspecies. The Qinling Mountains have the highest density of wild giant pandas in China. The Foping National Nature Reserve, 158 kilometers from Hanzhong, is used mainly for the protection of Qinling giant pandas.
