Officer was role model and hero to colleagues, family
"If I can't solve a case, I feel sorry for the victim and more sorry for the police uniform and badge!" Liu Yabin would tell his colleagues during his 16-year career as a police officer.
Liu, an officer with the Yunhe branch of the Cangzhou Public Security Bureau in Hebei province, died from a sudden illness caused by overwork in May 2022 at the age of 42. He was recently awarded the "National First-Class Hero Model of the Public Security System" honor for his heroic actions on duty, and had been a torch bearer at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics.
He directly investigated and participated in the solving of more than 500 cases and captured more than 800 suspects after becoming a policeman in 2006.
