UnionPay offers exclusive summer discounts for cross-border travel
As summer outbound travel continues to heat up, cross-border payment has become a hot topic for tourists.
At present, the UnionPay network covers 181 countries and regions, and tourists can experience convenient payment services if they have UnionPay cards or UnionPay Mobile Payments.
During the summer vacation, UnionPay International launched triple rewards. Tourists can not only enjoy exclusive discounts as low as 40 percent off at nearly 30,000 stores outside the Chinese mainland, but have the opportunity to enjoy dynamic exchange rate discounts and cashback up to 11 percent.
Since the beginning of this year, in line with the recovery of cross-border personnel flow, UnionPay International has continued to expand and deepen its acceptance network. The acceptance coverage of UnionPay cards in the Asia-Pacific region, North America and Europe has increased to 95 percent, 80 percent and 80 percent.
In response to changes in consumer payment habits, UnionPay has added more than 16 million overseas merchants to accept UnionPay mobile payment. Customers can make convenient payments at these merchants by using the UnionPay app, domestic commercial bank apps connected to the "UnionPay App Network Payment Platform" or UnionPay mobile QuickPass.
In consideration of the travel needs of tourists, UnionPay also focuses on improving the acceptance of individual travel scenarios. A large number of airlines around the world, the world's top 10 hotel groups, top travel booking platforms, and local catering and transportation scenarios all accept UnionPay.
Taking transport as an example, tourists can use UnionPay cards to pass through subway gates in such places as China's Hong Kong, Fukuoka in Japan and elsewhere.
While the cross-border payment experience is becoming more convenient, UnionPay cardholders can enjoy richer discounts. In order to meet the upcoming tourist peak, UnionPay International recently launched the "Explore Summer on Your Way" activity. It includes U plan, coupons, instant discounts and cashback, covering a large number of merchants in popular destinations, such as China's Hong Kong and Macao, Southeast Asia, Europe, South Pacific and Japan. Tourists can enjoy discounts exclusive to UnionPay whether they use Agoda to book trips; take public transport in China's Hong Kong, Japan and other places; shop at well-known merchants such as DFS, Matsuya in Japan, Central in Thailand, and Harrods in the United Kingdom; or play at sky100 in Hong Kong and Sentosa in Singapore.
The popular UnionPay International exchange rate discounts are continuing during the summer holidays. Cardholders can enter the "Exchange Rate Preferential" applet of the UnionPay app, register with a UnionPay card issued in the Chinese mainland and a card number starting with 62, and use the registration card to spend at merchants in Hong Kong and Macao.
They can enjoy upgraded discounts if the accumulated consumption reaches the standard. The amount of multiple registration cards can be aggregated and calculated, regardless of card swiping, code scanning or mobile phone QuickPass.
In addition to these general discounts, many commercial banks such as Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Bank of Communications, China Merchants Bank, Ping An Bank, and Industrial Bank provide exclusive cash rebates or instant discounts for UnionPay cardholders. Tourists who use UnionPay cards issued by these banks to make overseas purchases can get up to 10 percent cashback if they meet the conditions.
Tourists who hold designated UnionPay high-end credit cards of commercial banks such as Bank of China, China Construction Bank, China Merchants Bank, China Everbright, also have the opportunity to enjoy a 1 percent cashback discount for all cross-border online and offline consumption.
It is worth mentioning that outbound tourists can also use Union-Pay cards or the UnionPay app to enjoy UnionPay's exclusive tax refund service.
At present, 44 countries and regions around the world have launched tax refund services based on UnionPay cards.
These cover multiple scenarios such as tax refunds at airports, ports and urban areas, meeting the differentiated needs of consumers.
