The new face of digital and innovative Serbia
Serbia, at the crossroads of East and West, is not only one of the most desirable investment, trade and business partnerships destination in Europe today, but a regional leader in digital transformation and a new European technological and biotechnological hub.
Serbia is now a country that bases its growth and development on knowledge, new technologies and innovations, where children learn programming as early as elementary school and whose No 1 export product is software. More and more high-tech companies from around the world are building factories there and opening their research and development centers where the future of global industry is being shaped. The most substantial support to the state, domestic economy and foreign investors is Serbian Information and Communications Technology, the fastest growing sector of the Serbian economy which today exports 10 times more to the world than a decade ago and whose innovative products are already used worldwide.
The state has been committed to raising awareness of the importance and promotion of new technologies, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, on the digitalization of public administration services and the creation of a stimulating environment not only for application, but also for the creation of innovations and the development of an innovative economy. Today, Serbia is one of the 29 countries of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence, it will be the chairman of this association in the next three years, and it will host the Summit on Artificial Intelligence at the end of this year.
The domestic economy, supported by its national association, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, used that framework and by investing in digital technologies it optimized production and business processes; improved its performance; raised efficiency, productivity and competitiveness; and strengthened its position on the international market. Digital tools, from software for customer relationship management, or CRM; warehouse management systems, or WMS; and project management systems, or PMS, through cloud services to integrated enterprise resource planning systems, have become an integral part of daily operations of Serbian companies.
Apart from helping micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to digitally transform faster through the programs of the Centre for Digital Transformation, by implementing solutions based on artificial intelligence, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia is now focused on AI-based projects. This includes BizChat, as a digital assistant and guide through the chamber services and business milieu of Serbia, to platforms, such as the Inno-Verse Platform for managing business innovations.
With the recent establishment of this platform, it made available to companies a global fund of information, knowledge from relevant international sources, business models and innovations. This enables them, with the help of artificial intelligence and smart digital tools, to consider current and predict future trends in their industries, follow the competition, evaluate the position of individual products, choose the best technologies and also develop business ideas, new products and business models. It aims to create a new value for higher turnover, export and profit, which is the goal of every business.
In the digital space of this platform, but also through the Innovation Hub, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia gathers all national power and intelligence — state institutions, business, academic, scientific research and innovative start-up community. It connects large companies and small and medium-sized enterprises, both from traditional and high-tech industries, universities, faculties and institutes, science and technology parks and start-up companies.
The Specialised Expo, which will be proudly hosted by Belgrade from May to August 2027, is the best opportunity to present to the world what is being built together and what will be created in the next few years — a new face of an open, modern, innovative and digital Serbia.
