Dike breach sealed in Inner Mongolia
A dike breach on a river in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region was sealed at 2:13 pm on Wednesday, with no casualties reported, according to the local drought relief and flood control headquarters. The breach, over 10 meters wide, occurred at about 12:40 pm on Tuesday on the Laoha River in Taipingdi, a town in the city of Chifeng. More than 800 residents had to be evacuated, and some 600 hectares of farmland were inundated. Over 800 rescue personnel from the armed police and firefighting, public security, emergency management and other departments were mobilized to seal the breach.
