NIRO Investment Group's 30 years of fostering economic cultural bridges
This year marks a significant milestone in China-Romania relations, as both nations celebrate 75 years of diplomatic ties. Over this period, both countries have experienced economic political changes, but the friendship between the two nations has remained constant. For the past three decades, NIRO Investment Group has been an active supporter of this enduring relationship, contributing both culturally and economically to its growth.
In 2011, the group took its commitment further by establishing the "Romanian-Chinese House", a nongovernmental organization focused on fostering bilateral cultural, academic and economic partnerships, deepening the bond between the two nations. This initiative has been instrumental in strengthening the cultural understanding and business exchanges between Romania and China.
Bridge between markets
Dragonul Rosu (Red Dragon), developed by NIRO Investment Group, is a logistics and commercial hub in Southeastern Europe and stands as a cornerstone of the China-Romania partnership. Spanning over 60 hectares, with 10 pavilions and housing more than 4,500 shops, logistics and storage spaces, the Dragonul Rosu Logistics and Commercial Center directly generates more than 10,000 jobs and supports thousands of businesses nationwide, thereby contributing to the growth of local communities.
The hub not only connects Romania directly to the Chinese market but also facilitates trade across Europe. With more than 20,000 daily visitors, Dragonul Rosu has established itself as a key player in the region's economy.
Dragonul Rosu is also the heart of the Chinese community in Romania, one of the largest in Eastern Europe. The complex serves as a vibrant Chinese cultural center and commerce community, a peaceful "home" for the more than 15,000 Chinese nationals living and working in the area. For three generations, Dragonul Rosu has symbolized the harmony between the two peoples and showcased Romania's openness as a welcoming nation.
NIRO Investment Group also collaborates with Chinese construction and hospitality companies, further strengthening its ties with China.
A global vision
With its latest project — the development of two luxury resorts in the Maldives — the influence of NIRO Investment Group extends beyond Romania. The venture is designed to set new benchmarks for international luxury tourism. The resorts will be operated by Corinthia Hotels, while the general contractor is China State Construction, a true symbol of China's industrial strength and an exemplary model in executing large-scale and high-quality projects. This project also features collaborations with world-renowned companies such as RLB Hooloomann, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company, Sandcays, Tricon, Beaufort and HKS Architects, ensuring high-level standards of execution.
In line with NIRO's commitment to environmental sustainability, the project adheres to its environmental, social and governance policy, ensuring that the developments are not only luxurious but also ecologically responsible. From energy management and biodiversity conservation to social initiatives for the engagement of local communities, NIRO aims to have a positive impact on both the environment and society.
By creating jobs and supporting local economies, the project exemplifies how "Together we are building the future" resonates on a global scale.
