2024 China International Import Expo advances global openness and cooperation

The 2024 China International Import Expo, running from Nov 5 to 10 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai), covers an overall exhibition area of more than 420,000 square meters. A total of 152 countries, regions and international organizations are participating in the country exhibition and business exhibition.

This year, 77 countries and international organizations are in the country exhibition. Norway, Slovakia, Benin, Burundi, Madagascar, Namibia and Lesotho, as well as UNICEF are first-time participants in the country exhibition.
France, Malaysia, Nicaragua, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia and Tanzania are the guest countries of honor in 2024.

The China Pavilion continues to be a highlight at the CIIE. Themed Advance Chinese Modernization and Jointly Pursue Global Development and Prosperity, the pavilion is showcasing the nation's latest developments.

The business exhibition at the 2024 CIIE occupies more than 360,000 sq m. With nearly 3,500 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions in attendance, it surpasses the record set in 2023. Of them, 297 are from Fortune 500 enterprises and industry leaders, a new milestone. Additionally, 186 companies and organizations have been participants every year since the CIIE's inception in 2018.

The 2024 CIIE places significant emphasis on nurturing new quality productive forces. The innovation incubation sections within the business exhibition area have seen an enhancement in both scale and quality. For the first time, the focus is on four industries: the digital economy, green and low-carbon development, life sciences and manufacturing technology.

Since 2018, the CIIE has been an ideal platform to launch new products. More than 400 new products, technologies and services are displayed this year.
Also, the business and country exhibitions have extended support to enterprises from 37 of the world's least-developed countries. The African agricultural products special section has been expanded this year. This section is designed to help increase unilateral openness to the least-developed countries.

Themed High-Standard Opening-up for Universally Beneficial and Inclusive Economic Globalization, the 7th Hongqiao International Economic Forum is centered around global opening-up and global economic governance. It consists of a main forum and 19 sub-forums. The forum is set to release several important reports, including the World Openness Report 2024. A wide range of topics such as new types of energy storage and artificial intelligence are covered at the annual forum.

The cultural exchange activities at the 2024 CIIE cover an exhibition area of more than 32,000 sq m, a record. It gives full play to its advantages in promoting cultural exchanges between countries and regions.

In 2024, 39 government trade missions and four industry trade missions are participating in the CIIE. In total 780 sub-trade missions have been formed, another record.
