UniCom boosts digital connectivity and people's well-being in Cambodia
Leveraging its advantage of integrated operational services, UniCom is making significant progress in serving society and people's livelihoods in Cambodia while continuously strengthening cooperation with local telecoms operators under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
On Oct 17, 2023, during the third BRI Forum for International Cooperation and BRI CEO Conference, UniCom and Cambodia's Ministry of Post and Telecommunications signed a cooperation declaration for a digital infrastructure in Cambodia, aimed at strengthening the internet connection between Cambodia and the world. UniCom pledges to deeply engage in Cambodia's digital reform activities and assist in attaining its digitalization target in 2035.
On Oct 30, 2024, UniCom Cambodia, the local branch of UniCom operating in Cambodia, signed a memorandum of understanding with one of the biggest infrastructure companies in Cambodia, committing to jointly build a cross-border high-speed network route connecting China, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore and Malaysia, to enhance Cambodia's ASEAN network position. Currently, UniCom Cambodia has abundant submarine cable resources and points of presence (PoPs) in key cities, with plans for more nationwide. It also supports Chinese enterprises in Cambodia via local operator collaborations.
UniCom Cambodia, in collaboration with one of the biggest OTT(over the top) livestreaming platforms, has introduced live Chinese television broadcasts and video content services, allowing Cambodians to experience Chinese culture without leaving their homes. By building a platform for exchange and mutual learning between Chinese and Cambodian youth, the company is becoming a pillar for carrying forward Chinese-Cambodian friendship.
UniCom said it will continue to deepen cooperation in digital infrastructure construction under the framework of the BRI and the China-Cambodia "Diamond Hexagon" cooperation framework while serving Cambodia's economic and social development and improving people's livelihoods.
