International grassroots communities' role stressed as a bridge of connection

Strengthening inter-civilizational exchanges and mutual learning is essential to building mutual trust and shared prosperity, a senior official said on Friday, urging greater international cooperation on people-to-people and cultural interactions.

"International grassroots communities hold unique advantages in fostering inclusiveness and coexistence among countries and ethnic groups, and play a crucial role as a bridge for mutual learning between civilizations," said Liu Jianchao, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

Liu made the remarks at a subforum of the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting held in Beijing.
