Anhui farmer awarded title of role model

Xu Congxiang, a pioneering farmer of the new era from the eastern province of Anhui, was awarded the title "Role Model of the Times" by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee on Wednesday. Born in 1953, Xu is currently the Party secretary of the modern agricultural science and technology experimental demonstration base in the province's Taihe county. As a Taihe native, Xu's roots in the rural area run deep. His connection to the county fuels his efforts to promote agricultural development through science and technology. He has cultivated excellent crop varieties, improved cultivation methods, and transformed weather-dependent fields to produce high-yield harvests. His work has led to improved crop success for numerous farming families, making a positive contribution to national food security.
