The recent inscription of Jingdezhen's handicraft industry sites as a group on the UNESCO World Heritage List pays tribute to the historical glory of the hilly, riverfront city in landlocked Jiangxi province as a flourishing center of porcelain production and trade between the 10th and 19th centuries.

The inscription also celebrates a long-standing, comprehensive system of manufacturing and craftsmanship that still thrives in Jingdezhen, renowned as China's "porcelain capital", whose exquisite products captivate people today.
